SOCCER WEEKLY BRIEF

Donnarumma to Leave PSG After UEFA Super Cup Snub

On August 12, 2025, Paris Saint-Germain star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma announced he will be leaving the club, citing his omission from the UEFA Super Cup squad as the decisive factor.

In a heartfelt Instagram message to supporters, Donnarumma wrote:

“To the special Paris fans, from the first day I arrived, I gave everything—on and off the pitch—to earn my place and defend the goal of Paris Saint-Germain.”

Manager Luis Enrique accepted full responsibility for the decision, stating he was “100% responsible” for leaving the Italian international out of the matchday squad. Donnarumma was replaced by Lucas Chevalier, who joined PSG from LOSC Lille just last week.

According to the BBC, Donnarumma is now in talks with Manchester City, signaling a potential high-profile move to the Premier League.
